My Coffee Setup as of Feb 2026
Current state of the coffee corner.
Espresso
- Gaggiuino - a Gaggia Classic I modded myself with the Gaggiuino kit. Adds pressure profiling, flow control, and a proper PID. Took a weekend but worth it.
- Baratza Sette 270 - dedicated espresso grinder. Loud but consistent.
Pour Over
- Hario Switch - my wife got me this for my birthday. Immersion + pour over hybrid that’s very forgiving.
- Aeropress Clear - my wife uses this mostly.
- Baratza Encore ESP - works fine for pour over, debating whether to upgrade to a hand grinder or a nice flat burr. A bit inconsistent at finer settings.
- Cafec filters - use these for both brewers. Noticeable improvement over stock Hario filters.
Beans
- Espresso: Stamp Act espresso blend. Reliable, works well with milk drinks.
- Pour over: We pick up beans whenever we travel. Otherwise it’s Stamp Act or whatever Fellow Drops recommends in their weekly text.
Recipes
My Hario Switch recipe:
- Grind 18-20g
- 60g bloom with switch closed
- 100g pours until I hit 1:16 ratio
- Open switch, let it draw down
My wife uses the Heart Coffee Roasters Aeropress recipe—inverted, coarser grind, longer steep.
Mostly get advice from r/pourover and James Hoffmann videos. The grinder is the weak link right now—debating a hand grinder (1Zpresso ZP6 or Comandante) vs flat burr electric (Fellow Ode, DF64). Hand grinder is supposedly better at this price point, but I’m lazy in the morning.
